It’s only been a month since Roadhog mains were devastated by the loss of their favorite tank’s place in the meta, but more and more complaints appear online every day. What was intended to be a slight damage nerf in order to prevent the character from being the most overpowered hero in Overwatch has backfired for Blizzard, forcing the company to respond to the many fans who would see the changes reverted.

In a forum thread dedicated to asking players how they would fix Roadhog in his current state, Principal Designer for Overwatch Geoff Goodman announced that Blizzard is working on a solution that could make all parties happy. The character’s offensive strength is likely to remain the same, but the Australian gun-for-hire might be seeing a boost to his defense.

“We’re testing some stuff internally for Roadhog. The focus of changes we’re trying are around his defenses, rather than his offensive capabilities,” claimed Goodman. “Even though the hook combo is weaker now he can still dish out a lot of damage over all. If he had some more survivability he would be in a better place.”
